S9 : Side Event Science Project (Science Projects in Schools Showcase)

The 4^th Science Projects in Schools Showcase at PACCON2027 is an opportunity for high school students from across Thailand and Asia to shine on the international stage. Students are invited to present their research, experiments, and innovations to participants from more than 30 countries. Through engaging poster presentations and concise 5 minute video summaries, students will be able to share their discoveries, exchange ideas, and take part in meaningful discussions with scientists, educators, and peers from around the world.

This exciting journey began at ICCE 2024 in Pattaya, where over 70 projects were showcased under the theme “Power of Chemistry Education for Advancing SDGs.” It continued at ASIACHEM2025 in Bangkok, where 93 projects from across Asia came together under the theme “Responsible Chemical Sciences for World Sustainability.” In  PACCON2026, we have 127 projects to join the event. Now 2027, where students will have the chance to step forward and be part of this growing legacy. More than just a showcase, the event fosters curiosity, creativity, and the confidence to communicate ideas effectively. It is designed to build a deeper appreciation for the wonders of science while inspiring students to see how their ideas can make a real difference. To honor these efforts, outstanding projects will be recognized with the prestigious PACCON2026 Science Project in Schools Showcase Awards, presented in gold, silver, and bronze categories.

This event is not only a competition but also a celebration of young minds shaping the future of science. Whether aiming to become scientists, innovators, or changemakers, students will have the chance to present their passion for science and inspire others.

The 3^rd Science Research Presentation for Undergraduate Students at PACCON2027 offers an exciting platform for university students across Asia to showcase their research, experiments, and innovations to an international audience of participants from more than 30 countries.

The first presentation was held at ASIACHEM2025 in Bangkok, where 37 projects were featured under the theme “Responsible Chemical Sciences for World Sustainability.” The event was a remarkable success, with students receiving enthusiastic feedback and valuable encouragement from scientists around the world. Building on this strong foundation, the Science Research Presentation for Undergraduate Students will continue at PACCON2027, creating even greater opportunities for recognition, collaboration, and growth. Through engaging poster sessions and concise 5 minute video summaries, students will present their ideas, discuss discoveries, and connect with peers, educators, and researchers. This event nurtures scientific curiosity, creativity, and effective communication skills, while inspiring students to see how their work can contribute to solving global challenges.

Outstanding projects will be recognized with the prestigious PACCON2027 Future Science Research Awards, presented in gold, silver, and bronze categories. In addition, top-scoring projects will receive a special certificate of recognition from FACS, CST, and the ACS Thailand Chapter. These honors not only celebrate academic achievement but also encourage continued exploration of science in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More than a research presentation, this event is a celebration of the next generation of scientists whose creativity and innovation are shaping a sustainable future.

📜Abstract Submission Guidelines

 To ensure consistency, all abstracts must be prepared using the official FACS Future Scientists Program abstract template.

• Abstracts must be written in English. 
• The abstract should contain no more than 200 words. 
• A maximum of five keywords may be included. 
• One graphic or graphical abstract may be included, if appropriate. 
• The complete abstract must fit on one A4 page. 
• Authors should not alter the margins, fonts, or formatting specified in the official PACCON template. 
• The file size should not exceed 1 MB. 
• File format: Microsoft Word (.docx) [you may also consider requiring PDF].

📋Evaluation Criteria

1. Scientific Process — 20%
Evaluated based on the abstract and poster

• The research concept and problem statement are clearly defined. 
• The hypothesis and/or proposed approach is supported by appropriate scientific theories and principles. 
• The experimental design is appropriately planned, including suitable control of variables. 
• Data processing and analysis methods are systematic, scientifically sound, and reliable. 
• Appropriate references to credible scientific literature and supporting evidence are provided. 

2. Creativity and Innovation — 20%
Evaluated based on the abstract and poster

• The project addresses an interesting and relevant problem. 
• The rationale for undertaking the project is clearly explained. 
• The proposed methods are appropriate for addressing the identified problem. 
• The project demonstrates originality in its concept, methodology, experimental design, or application. 
• The project demonstrates potential for innovation and practical application. 

3. Completeness and Quality of Content — 20%
Evaluated based on the poster

• Data are collected and analyzed systematically. 
• Experimental results are sufficiently reliable and reproducible. 
• Appropriate mathematical and/or statistical methods are applied where relevant. 
• Sufficient evidence is provided to support the analysis, interpretation, and conclusions. 

4. Practical Application and Impact — 20%
Evaluated based on the abstract and poster

• The project demonstrates potential scientific, economic, social, and/or environmental impact. 
• The findings have potential for practical application. 
• The project has potential for further development, dissemination, or scale-up. 
• Where relevant, consideration has been given to intellectual property protection and potential patent or petty patent applications. 

5. Video Presentation and Scientific Understanding — 20%
Evaluated based on the video presentation

• The presentation is clear, concise, logical, and well organized. 
• The presenter demonstrates a sound understanding of the relevant scientific principles. 
• Results and conclusions are clearly explained and appropriately interpreted. 
• Limitations of the study are recognized where relevant. 
• The presenter demonstrates awareness of the scientific, social, environmental, and/or economic significance of the project. 
• Potential directions for further research or development are identified. 
• For team projects, the presentation should demonstrate the contribution and understanding of the team members.
